Class 5 sounds especially awesome...

...right before power tube blows. Has anybody found that to be true with theirs too? It's like a mom learns her baby's cries. I know that when my C5 starts to sound extra creamy that I'm about to lose the EL84.

Yes it actually does happen a bit. Stock tube lasted 11 months. Then I put in an EHX that lasted over a year. When I swapped it, the tube was still working and sounding great but I was concerned about the mileage on it. Second EHX lasted 6 months. Then I tried a Mullard. That was in December. Now it is making its pop sound. Whenever I use the headphone trick it cooks the tube the next time I run it at full power.

It sounds EXACTLY like when you cut power while playing, just at full volume.

I get the same shit with my 2061x.
Recently blew the power tubes, but man it was fucken sweet those last few hours before meltdown :)
