Class 5 for Blues?

Postby Beston1 » 06 Feb 2014, 04:34

Does anyone use their Class 5 for Blues? The band im in a band that consists of Guitar & Vx / Keys & Vx / Bass / Drums, the `on stage` volume isnt going to blow away a concrete wall but its still loud enough to actually `feel` what we`re playing.

Do you think the Class 5 would work with the volume 3/4 up (say 1-3 o`Clock),and simply use the guitars volume to keep it clean then turn up for solo`s to get some bite? If any dirt was required at a lower volume level a Micro amp would be used, but still use the guitar `s volume for boosting the solo?

(Ive been using a AC30 recently but im wondering if the Class 5 would sound better to combine clean blues & some rock blues with the Marshall sound)

Hope that made sense!
(PS we mic` up live)

I don't see any reason why that idea wouldn't work for you. Especially since you mic the amp. Sound's like your describing the Class 5.

It should be perfect. You can experiment with tube swapping to fine tune your tone. It will be slightly quieter than the AC30, but have more character for blues.

It should work great - especially if you are micing it. Shoot, if you're micing it you could play a stadium with one. :Thumbs
