Thanks, I've really only tried the 7025 "Preferred Series". I tried it in both V1 and V2 positions and I like it better in the V2.
I do have a Penta Labs 12AX7A I might try in V1 someday, but I think the red Marshall labeled JJ will probably sound best in V1.

What I've read so far is that V2 seems to respond more to a tube change than V1 in the Class 5. You seem to be proving that out. I just ordered a new production Mullard for the power tube. The new tube is said to be a bit cleaner, a bit more definition. I was thinking of simply replacung the preamp gives with Mullards or looking for some NOS 12AX7's for the preamp.
