Increase the gain in the OD channel of MA100H/50H

Hello guys,
Seeing the preamp section of the head marshall MA100H in the following diagram (downloaded in pdf here:
http://forum.metroamp.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=33579) I saw that in the cathode of the valve V2B there is a 6K8 /0,6W resistor called R18.It's possible to change it with one of a lower value, for example 1.5K or 3.3K,in order to increase the gain of this stage and consequently of the OD channel ?
I hope that, also, SteveD as designer of this good head can give me his advice.
Greetings, and Happy Christmas Holidays.
