Another pedal that works great in the MA effects loop

Postby txslowhand » 27 May 2011, 10:45

Hey all,

I had a DigiTech Screamin' Blues pedal I was literally using as a doorstop in my music room. After reading what Nebulozny and others were putting into their effects loops for master volume control I decided to drop in the Screamin' Blues pedal and I'll be damn if it didn't work like a champ. I can now crank my gain to about 2 or 3 o'clock and the master volume to 12 or 1 o'clock on the OD channel while controlling the final volume with the Screamin' Blues pedal. Now, I REALLY like the MA50H. I'm with everybody else, Marshalls have to be cranked to get "that tone" and the MA series is no exception. Don't know why people dog this line other than they're not made in the UK. Well......get over it :bgrin Can't beat it for the price.

With higher gain and higher volumes comes the problem of hiss, at least with my amp head anyway. I have new preamp tubes on the way that I hope will solve or partially solve this issue.
Cheers,
Chris

I told you it's gonna work :bgrin
Any kind of overdrive pedal should do the job, I tried this with EQ pedal and it's just not the same thing, OD pedal filters the fizz in the drive and just kicks MA to another level.

Enjoy the new MA ! :jam

Good ! So I guess that you changed your opinion about those amp ?
You can really get an outstanding Marshall sound without paying over $ 2K

Nebulozny Marshall should refound you your amp, with all the good publicity you are making for them loll

Good idea Phano, maybe 4x12 cab would be nice from Marshall :bgrin :Thumbs

I don't think many people know about this master volume thing, most of them ignores MA since they try it at low volumes, but anyone who tried it really likes it.
