amp giving off less heat???

Postby jagermike66 » 25 Sep 2011, 08:22

Hi people,

Might be one for steve again. Im trying out some 6CA7 power valves in my MA50H. Liking the tone, but for some reason after a gig/rehearsal the amp isnt as hot as it was when running other EL34 style valves. Is this anything to worry about? Could just be that the glass is a lot thicker on the 6CA7s or something. Could it be to do with the bias setting? (i did tweak it when i installed the new valves but you know how it can sway over time...) Just a bit concerned that i might be killing the valve heaters!

Or..(and probably more likely)......this is just all in my head and the amps fine!

Cheers!

Mike

If the bias is set correctly and it sounds good then don't worry about it. Less heat is a good thing!
Still my guitar gently weeps

Thanks Steve! Good to know.

Played a show this weekend and as always, it was a killer tone. Got the volume all the way up to 8-9, going through an Orange cab = massive smile on my face :)
