Whitney Plexi Head?

Postby Notthedocter27 » 01 Jan 2015, 13:00

Came across this and I am not sure what to make of it? I asked the seller if this was a 45/100 clone, and he said it was a 100w clone and that was it? The KT66's got me thinking 45/100, and the mostly undecipherable letters on the front.
Any help is appreciated...Thanks!

Whitney Amplification is a boutique and vintage clone builder. I found a website but couldn't find any amp models. Judging by the layout I would guess that it is a JTM45/100 and 2203 hybrid. It probably sounds something like a Vintage Modern in high dynamic range. Can you get clips?

Thanks for the response..I Doubt it, the seller is pretty vague and has answered my emails, but not many of my questions,...I was just about to pull the trigger on a JTM45/100 build and saw this, figured I'd check it out. I could probably pick it up for about $650...it has a bias knob on the back of chassis and a passive effects loop, which I have heard are pretty much useless due to the insertion loss,..so probably will just proceed forward with the build. From what little Ive been able to get from google, Mike Whitney seems like he has a pretty good reputation, but without the seller getting a bit more specific, I'm not going to spend to much time on it...
Thanks again

I ended up having Curt Granger at Granger Amps build a 45/100 with the Dickinson mod for me. It is an absolutely lovely amp. I highly recommend him.

Nice...glad you wound up with something your happy with...I dont think I could afford having someone else do it the work...ha! and that would take all the fun(cuss words/tantrums/banging head against the wall) out of it. Not sure which direction I am going to go...There is a JMP 1987 Non master volume 4 holer in the traditional head cabinet that has got my eye...so will see..thanks again
