JTM45 with jumped channels

Postby LivewireBlanco » 18 Feb 2010, 13:14

Ok, I have a Metroamp clone of a JTM45 (not 100) so I guess this would be the right topic area...anyways, I am now using it with both channels jumped together and I must say I couldn't be happier. For so long I've just been plugging into the high treble channel and using an OD pedal to get the extra little boost. So I just wanted to experiment and jumped the two channels with the high treble on 7 and the normal channel on 5.......HOLY $#@! :scared2 I couldn't be happier! This is the tone I've been searching for and every guitar player should be able to experience this. I no longer have to use an OD pedal and the fatness of the sound is unmatched. :ntworth If you own a JTM45, jump those channels already and crank that mofo! If you don't own one.....you don't know what you're missing.

Dude you just figured this out.... :smash I have always jumpered my four hole amps. It just allows you to mix the two channels together. It is kind of like how you have body and detail on the VM. Another thing I would do is order the LarMar master volume kit from Metro, it's only like $15 and it will then allow you to crank Vol1 and Vol2 while setting your master volume. I am going to install it on my 69 plexi as soon as my new Harma tubes get here from the UK

kind of funny though I bet you were pretty impressed when you heard the two channels mixed for the first time.

Well, I had always heard of people doing it and I was already happy with my tone from just one channel and figured that an OD would be needed whether they were jumped or not. Definitely not the case! The added gain and body from the two jumped is amazing. Pair this amp with my R8 with Skatterbranes..... :ntworth

Surf is right about the mastervolume.
I do that too and set the mastervolume to about 7 or 8 and use a
attenuator. I also have a tube-buffered FX-loop with 2 mix kontrols
which also can be dialed in as a boost. This totally turns this amp
into submission. I saw on the metroamp forum they are designing
a similar effectsloop .......
Tubesnobs always said this destroys the tone on a vintage amp , now
they want it too.
With a strat my amp sounds best in the normal channel.
A lot of people with a JTM45 experiment with the bright caps , i just
use the eq or the tone knob on the guitar to dial out any harsness.
