stock jcm 800 2204 1989 vs jmp 2204 1977 modified??

i have a chance to buy an amp, i can buy a stock jcm 800 2204 1989 or jmp 2204 MV 1977 modified, its modified to have more gain, i will have to returned to stock.
I will use this in a studio and i dont know whats better to buy. I think the 800 its more known but jmp sound better?

which of these two should i would buy?

Problem is there can be differences between the amps even though they are the same model when you start talking about amps from the 70s. On the surface I would be more interested in that 77 JMP. Since I cannot play either its impossible to get you a answer.

I would suggest not buying either blind on hearsay. You really need to vet your gear and play them yourself. If you can't be sure you have a clear understanding about returning the amp if you don't like it.
