Rare Marshall JCM900 MKIII

Postby Roger » 01 Apr 2017, 08:45

Hi all!
Recently I caught a 50W MK3 model 2500 . Year 1990. I think the writing on the front panel have mistakes. Look at the photos and see what I mean.
I see on Google others MK3 and said Master (B) footswith and the gain/sensitivity pot start at 10. :dunno
What do you think?

That is correct. The master (B) allows you to set the B volume higher than A and then switch in and out at will for a volume boost. As far as the sensitivity thing goes i have no clue why they wanted it to go from 0-20 but thats just how they labelled it. They could have made it go to 11.

I see in others JCM900 in front panel "Master B footswith. In my amp "Master B footswtih". And gain pot 10-20. In my amp 0-20. Is this normal?
The amp sounds and work great.

Wasn't the 0-20 a humerous nod to the Spinal Tap amps going to 11?

Nigel was a great inventor.

I liked his Amp Capo that squeezed the amp to make it play higher. Nice.

Mine goes from 10-20. I wonder if someone erased the 1 in front of the 0. It clearly was meant to start at 10 since two marks up the knob is 12.

Hi Roger, after reading your post I checked my 100 watt MKIII and mine has the incorrect spelling of footswitch and the 0-20 silkscreen too. I never noticed this before. Marshall must of corrected this at some point as there are plenty of pics online of the correct print. It would be interesting to know when this happened.
