Hi everyone
I have a JCM 800 1987 (1984) head that I've had for nearly 20 years and enjoyed it, but I'm pretty clueless as to the mods made to it and why. I was told by someone at Guitar Center that it is a plexi, with the 2 bottom inputs turned into a tone pot and switch, along with 3 other 3-way switches along the front between the middle and treble, treble and volume 1, and volume 1 and volume 2.
Im curious if this a well known mod for this model, and what anyone might know about it. Sound wise it has a very wide range given all the toggles, with a very healthy voice for a 50 W.
ALSO while I'm at it, the 4x12 bottom cab is a weird bird as well. It's a 1969B "Original Classic Limited Edition" with dark green vinyl covering, grey plaid grill cloth, and the weird part--- gold piping. I can't find one just like it on the web, all have the traditional white piping.
I don't think my pics made it to the post. Can anyone please give me insight on this pair, especially the cabinet? Is it rare? Maybe a custom build?
Thanks!!!
