Classic Tone transformers?

Postby clutch71 » 22 Jan 2013, 18:14

So who has em? What do you think?

Thinking of putting a new Classic tone OT, PT, and Choke for the DSL 50. Price is just too good to pass up.

I have a MM OT in there now but am considering moving it to a PV VTM 60 modded for EL34's and currently running the old Dagnall out of said DSL50.

I put their PT, OT and choke in my TSL 100 and it kicks ass. I really like their stuff, and you can't beat the price. :jam

I wonder if it´s really worth the trouble and the money. I think the transformers Marshall use today sounds just fine.

It was for me. My amp ran really hot. The Classic Tone transformers are more robust, and they don't have to work as hard to do the same thing, plus now I have a choke too. I did the work myself, so the upgrade cost me less than $250.

Cool if you can do it yourself. My JVM 410HJS has a choke and i do believe they make a difference even if subtle. Still there are many great amps without a choke.
