I would go with the jmd personally, but the 900 your saving money there, is down to what you feel you'd rather have, in getting the JMD as I see it as a compromise, I still need a couple of pedals to complete my board namely delay and phaser for the most part and i very rarely have spare money at all. and I need something that can be a little more flexible live than my vintage modern, the compromise comes where my tone will probably suffer slightly compared to the VM... But who knows? I might even prefer some of the sounds on the jmd even over the VM once I've actually played with it.

You've just got to weigh up the savings and what you actually need from an amp.. I think the 900s are good amps, definitely under rated, but as a say personally, I'd go for the JMD
les Paul -> cry baby -> mxr/CAE boost/line driver -> mxr m77 super bad ass modified OD -> marshall 2266 front end ->loop -> TC flashback delay -> mxr 10 band EQ -> marshall sv-1 chorus -> loop return -> marshall mf280a 4x12 cab

That's a lot of amp for the money, is it in good condition? I suspect only fair and well used at that price. Would save you getting a cab as well. Have you had a chance to play through it? I know some people on here who really like this amp.
Only thing with 2x12 combo's are the weight, I would ask when was it last re-valved.
These are my random thoughts, but you need to play it first and then decide. Its going to be a big change from the MG you have now.

The JMD1 will get the same tone as the 900 easy, but then so much more. My opinion is get the JMD and have more options.

The JCM 900´s are great amps. The Master Volume MkIII model has diodes clipping to get distortion. Still the Marshalls with diodes clipping sound very good. It was later replaced with the all valve SL-X. I had a Master Volume MkIII back then and i remember thinking it was sounding thin compared to the 2204 i also had then. Also compared to the 2205 i had before. But the JMD is a digital amp sounding great so don´t mind the diodes.
