Another new signature Les paul for Slash

Postby Onza_Jk » 19 Aug 2009, 08:29

Taken from slash's facebook, 2hours ago from now.

"Starting to put together another "Slash model" Les Paul later this month, this one is going to be trick, will follow with details soon."

He must feel really honored to get another Les Paul. This will be his 6th Les paul with slash's name.
Hope it's good!

I'm not sure, but i think Gibson/Epiphone have realized that they can make much money by putting slash's name on les pauls :P

As I have an Ibanez PGM and a Dean Razorback I cant say too much, but I dont mind signature guitars too much as long as theyre not really heavily modified, so as to be that artists sound only. A sig guitar thats just a good design with good features that are just an improvement on an existing model, Im quite happy with.

Im particularly impressed with this at the moment though:

Gibson Les Paul Aged & Signed Custom Shop Billy Gibbons 59 Pearly Gates, Heritage Cherry Sunburst

Fender Strat (Bare Knuckle Custom '62 pickups), Gibson Les Paul Standard T 2016, Ibanez PGM301, Dean ML, Dean Razorback,
Marshall 2266c
Marshall 2266 half stack
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe I

Isn't an LP signature model a signature model of a signature model? Chew on that brain twister.

I like My EJ strat quite a bit and have an SRV neck on a partscaster but yeah Slash LP's don't get me real excited. When buying a signature model it is more like what features does it offer another doesn't more so than who's name is on it. I respect EJ alot but am not a big fan of his, the guitar he came out with just really appealed to me with it's appointments.

Oh my god... Gibson better had come up with either a Peter green sig or an attempt at a Beano Burst…
How can they give slash so many sigs, the most unimaginative/exciting ''guitar great'' there is IMO
I also hate the way he says he is blues this and blues that , he is barelyyy a blues player…..

and also the Pearly gates RI looks Fanbloodytastic.

Didn't some guitar magazine recently name the top guitarists ever and had Slash at #2 (behind Hendrix). I'm sorry if this offends all the Slash fans that frequent this site but....better than Page? Iommi? Beck? Gimour? Clapton? Haynes? Trucks? Les Paul? Bonamassa? Angus? Malmsteen? the 3 Kings? SRV? Green? etc. etc. etc. Give me a fucking break! :cuss

Agree. Slash has written a couple of great solos but in my opinion he's not top 50, much less top 2.

As for signature models, I don't really get it. I have the EJ strat but I bought it only because it is supposed to be the best made strat for the money, not because his name is on it.

Ok, I think it's time for me to break the seal on this one cause I have held it in so long but I feel this is the time.

I think Slash is a cool guy, has written some good songs and is a Rock Icon. That said, he is not even a top tier player in my book, he is in the second group of great rock players who get it but just don't knock me out. I think the best guitar players, not most skilled and excluding the legends, of the guys playing right now are John Frusciante, Derek Trucks, Buddy Whittington and Tom Morello. It is not a tangible thing, just that Slash doesn't do it for me and these guys do. All respect for his fans, he certainly isn't a poser or anything but I just don't get the worship thing.

Oh and just to drop a second bomb on this thread, I think Bonammassa is way overrated as well. His playing is sterile, planned and unoriginal to my ears. Whereas a guy like Buddy Whittington blows me away.

Oh boy, be merciful guys, it's not that I don't think they are good, they just don't do it for me.
