caps and PAFS

Postby lukemc » 03 Mar 2010, 05:48

hey everyone,
just ordered some PIO Luxe Caps for in my Les Paul,
went with the 0.15 for neck & 0.22 for bridge. should be arriving by the end of next week,
im also thinking of getting some handwound PAF's from Shed Pickups and dropping them in the R8 at the same time
to get the full tonal Wack!
What dya reckon? or keep the burstbuckers for now?

They're the cap values I went for when I went PIO. The 15 on the neck pickup I found much better and stopped it sinking into the mud when I rolled the tone off.
I think Burstbuckers are great but when I started using the VM and using the guitar vol a bit more I found they got a bit dull at low settings. Changed mine to Suhr Doug Aldrich's which do the job for me. Changing pickups is a real crapshoot though - and an expensive one at that.

Hold off on the pickups. See what change the caps make and then decide if you need to change the Burstbuckers.

You will like the PIO caps with the Burstbucker bridge pickup, the neck will take a little brightness away. Try it and see what you like. In the end you probably will get those pickups though, it's what we do as guitarists, but the BBs are good pickups.
