Bluesbreaker question

Postby ClassicRock88 » 25 Jan 2013, 07:36

The other day I was in a small local shop picking up tubes for my C5 (again). They had a Bluesbreaker reissue there that said "year 2000 h.w." on the tag. It was a grand even. I asked why it was only a thousand because the shop typically only sells high end amps that are rare, vintage or unique for about twice that. The manager told me it was on consignment and the owner wanted to get rid of it. I am going back to look at it this weekend and my fiance has given me her blessing to add it to the stable if I can get a tone she likes from it (it would be my birthday, Christmas and anniversary presents for the next 5 years). Did Marshall make any handwired Bluesbreakers in 2000? This is not a JAG. It is black with the reissue "not-quite-pinstripe" grill cloth and it has greenbacks in it.

I had one but didn't think (or check) it was hand-wired. Mine was the same as my jtm45 (2245) reissue head except for the combo had tremolo.

At that price, it's worth looking into for sure - cheapest I've heard.
Amps - Marshall Super 100JH, 1987x, 2204 Master Volume, 4502, Bassman 59 LTD, Fender Champ (79), Fender 75
Guitars - Les Paul Standard, ES-335, 62 Strat RI, 85 MIJ Squier Tele, Guild D55
Effects - Picture Wah, Octafuzz, Sunface NKT, KOT, KR Boost, MDV-2, DM-2

Well I didn't get it. I actually didn't even go look at it. We are paying for a wedding and moving in together and such and I had serious reservations about dropping a grand right now.

Sorry to bump up an old thread, but I was checking it, because I have a '69 JMP50 combo myself. Regarding that last offtopic posting this seems to be a fake amp, as the plate reads "JIM MARCHAL". ;)

Concerning the original question I think Marshall once released an expensive version of their standard Bluesbreaker reissue, but cannot remember when or what that exactly happened.
