This is just a bump for my favorite Marshall. I wanted one from the first time I saw one, but couldn't afford it. A couple years ago I found one used on CL, and it was like coming home. I absolutely love my 2061x. (currently running NOS Mullards all the way through).

BTW - as great as this amp sounds plugged straight in - a Rangemaster pedal lets you slam this amp into gainier/modern sounds in addition to the classic sounds already in there. The Paul C Timmy is also highly recommended as a clean boost.

Great looking rig schwa, that is a great recording rig combination. Also I like your chain, the Fulltone Ch/Flange has always been a favorite.

I don;t know about that attenuator on top though.... I would shoot and kill that. :gangsta

Thanks for the kind words, each of the pedals seems to be very well suited to the amp.

As to the attenuator, I look at it as a necessary evil. Even at 20watts, the sound when cranked is to loud for many (if not most) places I play. Most folks with 50 W MV amps probably play quieter than I do. The Faustine is the best unit I have tried by a good measure, and I have tried most of the well regarded ones. That said, I always keep atenuation to a minimum, and prefer the attenuated sound to turning down the amp.

As always, YMMV. :beerme

You users of big plexis had the 2061x to downsize the same tone...Now, the users of 2061x have the Jmp1-H to downsize the tone:

Hey,

how does the 2061x compare to the Vm2266 (I saw some of you in here have both)
I need to choose between the two and really can't decide.
In terms of loudness I guess the two are about the same.
I play mostly 70s rock like Led Zep or Sabbath, but does the 2061x have also nice cleans? As far as I read it breaks up pretty early.
I just love the dirty distorted sounds of it, but the VM sound really nice aswell and is probably more versatile.

I can get a 2061x for about 700 bucks and a almost new VM2266 for 775 bucks, I have an offer for both.
Which is the one to choose?
