What year is this JMP head?

Postby sunking420 » 28 Feb 2011, 16:45

I have a JMP 2203 MkII Master Model 100watt Lead amp and don't know how to date it. The serial number is 088034. Can anyone figure out the date it was manufactured? Thanks ahead to anyone who can....

Should be a letter in there: Ex: my 2204 from 1979 has "S 09929L " and the L means it's from 1979. (S means it's a 50 watt).

Maybe on yours the "4" is a letter instead possibly?

From July 1969 to December 1983, the date letter was put after the serial number.
From Jan 1984 to October 1992 the model letter first, then the date letter second,
were before the serial number.
Letters I & O were omitted to avoid confusion with numbers 1 & 0.

Thank you jboyjams!!!! I didn't pay attention to the "H" in the serial number, making it a 1976. I'd like to know what years this "JCM800" with the plexi-looking head were produced. I'm pretty sure they went to the early 80's when the Official JCM800 was released. I love this site because of people like you. I learn a lot!!!

JCM 800's came out in 1981 - some say at first these were the same as our JMP's.... I surfed around a lot regarding the 2204 JMP vs JCM800....

"1975 The introduction of the Master Volume amps (2203 & 2204).
1981 The introduction of the JCM800 amps.
"

Here's a great site that I use:

Enjoy your Marshall - I love mine!
