Buying my first Marshall amp - Help!

Postby Shinji » 25 Mar 2011, 11:56

Firstly, apologies if this is in the wrong section - I need some recommendations, I currently play through a Line6 Spider II but I'm not a fan of all the digital amp modeling malarky, basically I'm looking to buy a 50 watt valve combo, I need a 'simple' twin channel amp - I play alot of clean delayed stuff, but I also need a heavy distorted sound, not metal but heavy rock. My two main guitars have active EMG humbuckers, I use alot of effects, so like i said I just want a fairly simple amp sound which I can build on. I've looked a little at the vintage modern 2266C, but it appears to be a single channel amp?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.Cheers.

Yes the VM is single channel, but can be kicked into high gear with the footswitch into the High Dynamic setting which introduces a fourth pre-amp 12ax7 tube into the mix. I'd personally look into the JVM series as you already have effects. That amp has four channels with three modes each and is a Marshall Tube monster. If you didn't have effects I'd look into the JMD-1. I'm pretty sure that's my next Marshall...Good luck....

Welcome to the forum Shinji. :Thumbs

There is a JVM 50W combo which is two channels; -

The JMD is a great amp. It has a digital preamp but it is not like Line 6. You should give those combos a whirl too; -

Another one is the MA which is very reasonably priced for an all valve twin channel amp; -

Still my guitar gently weeps
