`70's Marshall MosFet Amps?

Postby TM1 » 17 Jan 2017, 11:58

I never see these around anywhere. I recall that they didn't sound bad back then. Anyone have one? I think Steve Grindrod designed these..(?)
Thanks!

I used to have a MOS-FET 5213 combo and with an EQ in the loop, the boost channel was way too focused on mids, it didn't sound too bad and it was plenty loud. They pop up on ebay every now and then and usually very affordably priced. Here is a few:

The 100 watt head isn't that bad, not the best amp but for usually $300 you could do much worse. I rather liked Marshall's Valvestate amps from that time but these amps are not that bad.

Thanks! They put out a like of MosFet/SS amp heads in the mid-70's that the cab was about 6" tall. It looked like the cab had been placed into a compactor compared to the valve heads. They were designed by Steve Grindrod.. I'll have to look it up. I may have an old catalouge from back then.
