Gary Moore Signature 1959HW

Postby lukemc » 04 Jan 2009, 12:12

dont know if anyone has heard about this but gary moore recently told a british guitar magazine in an interview, that he has a signature coming out but hes not sure what he want yet.
he then goes on to say it will most likely be a 1959HW with a half power Switch, Tube Buffered FX Loop and a real spring reverb.

id be interested as long as it didnt have his name plastered all over it. but it sounds like it could be REALLY good.

I am a Gary Moore fan no doubt, I'll bet that will be a great amp whatever it is. The guy does have a great tone IMO.

A handwired 100 watt 1959 is a amp every player should own sometime in their life when they can afford one, they are great amps. I suspect that amp to come in at 3k though. I can tell you I am loving my new Metro handwired 100 watt 69 Plexi clone.

The EL34s have more growl and roar, but the KT66s a have that Vintage tone every player should have. IMO you need two amps, my 2466 obviously has the KT66s but both my Plexi and DSL pack EL34s. All three of those amps are very different sounding.

I personally think they are. For me, EL-34s have that spitfire crunch, while KT-66s sound like "rolling thunder" (not my description, but i think it does job).

Surf is right on the money. It is sweet to have both in your arsenal. Each have their place in rock, but one can do something better then the other. IMHO, the VM is perfect for everything except 80's metal. I seem to be able to get a more accurate tone with my TSL.

When this amp is coming?
Does it only come in the 100 watt with a half power switch?
I remember steve said gary m liked the 100 watter VM except for the reverb....
i agree on this with him so i am very curious how a real spring reverb sounds like with this
