Marshall's 1987XPW Paul Weller combo amp

Postby BenjiJuanKenobi » 12 Jun 2009, 18:53

The Marshall 1987XPW Paul Weller amp looks enticing. Love the graphics, although The Who comes to mind instead of Paul Weller.

Check it out at http://www.marshallamps.com/product.asp ... de=1987XPW

Steve D, did you have a hand in this one? If so, so much the better. :party

Do you really like the looks of that thing? I am sure it sounds great but if that were in my house it would only be a matter of time before I took it out to the shooting range as a target...would be to tempting to see if a .300 mag could take the entire side of the amp off in a single shot. :draw

Can't help it. I'm a huge Who fan. While most people picked out Smoke On The Water or Paranoid as their first song on the guitar, I was learning Pinball Wizard.

Had to pick up a couple pairs of The Who styled Converse Chuck Taylors too. Check em out.

+1 on the shoes

maybe not so much on the amp

for me, if they ever came up with a stock amp in oxblood with a beige/tweed grill cloth and gold piping
now that would be cool

when i saw this amp on the marshall website i was like '' WOW a Townshend combo, great!! oh no wait...''
if they put this amp into prodduction with just standard cosmetics i think they would sell.

Besides the obvious cosmetic differences, what is the difference between this amp and a normal 50w plexi combo? (btw That's me inquiring on the "Lead & Bass" aspect of this amp)

There was a guy in the UK who got two of these. I tried to buy one from him but he wouldn't shift from asking £1500 for it. They were only £999 new! If I'm honest I'm glad I missed it and got the VM combo. I love Paul Weller's music, and I think this amp is great, but I think the white and the Mod thing doesn't go well with a gigging musician's rig. I think it's more of a collector's piece.

You guys over the pond may not appreciate Paul Weller as much as us Brits.

Welcome to the forum WhoAreYou. :Thumbs

BTW Your issue with the pedals in the 'Effects' thread is probably a ground loop. You have too many grounds connected to the inputs and outputs of the amp.
Still my guitar gently weeps
