opinions on a JTM45 Reissue

Postby lukemc » 11 Aug 2009, 02:17

Has anybody played a reissue JTM45 or a Reissue Bluesbreaker combo? If so what was your opinion on these reissues, how did they sound compared to the JTM tone you had in your Head...

I would say that if you are going to get a JTM45 you might as well get one fom http://www.metroamp.com. This is the JTM45 that I have and they are closer to the original than the reissues. Check them out.

Why get a reissue if you can buy a hanwired one with the right specs(kt66 tubes)
I got a Vernet FLV45 which i paid the same price for as a reissue. Metro amps are more
expensive and from what i heard the best quality of all of them.On the the metroamp forum i
saw a article from a magazine where they tested 5 different brands of these amps including the reissue.
They were all very good but had there own personality. The Ultimate BLUESAMP imho.
The fender 59 bassman is were it all began and that is an amp i really want to testdrive when i got the chance.

This will give you some G.A.S. :bgrin

im not into the metroamp ones really, there very overpriced if your Buying from the UK
Id get a Dennis Cornell one before I got one of them (claptons amp tech)

There is a company who can build me a handwired JTM45 for a few hundred more than the reissue but is it really worth it. Or does it just sound better in your head cos you’ve payed an arm and a leg for it?

theres so many things that look fantastic but i have no idea were thes companys(even marshall to an extent) get there prices from,
i would love a handwired Bluesbreaker combo but your look at over £1500 and i think if i built one it would be worse than buying pcb lol

I paid 1127 euro for mine .Built in a larger box( the same size as VM ) and in the same purple tolex as the VM.
It got KT66 tubes ( reissue got 5881 tubes) and the benefit of handwired :you can have extras built in
to your liking.
My vernet has a PPMIV(mastervolume at the back) and a tubebuffered FX-Loop with two mix controls.
Just like the VM i can get the tone and still control my overall volume .
A les paul in the darker normal channel and a rangemaster treble booster will leave all your boost/overdrive/distortion
pedals to shame....IMHO.
With a VM and a JTM 45 i have all my sounds covered.Except for a carlos santana tone i use my V-twin which gives
the VM a more compressed and modern sound ( less vintage and open).
I never knew this but red it on this forum that Jeff beck uses the same amp setup so that was good for my ego
because Jeff beck is known for being very picky about his tone.
The marshall 1974X i have had and although it had a incrediable tone it just lacks the headroom and power of
the JTM45.I can tell you tho it sounds very good with the 425A cab. Alnico speakers i have not tried yet but according
to the metroamp forum scumbuck speakers are very good.
Good luck.

I want a Metro JTM45 so bad it's all I can think about. Driving me crazy.
I would buy the assembled chassis and load it into a Mojo bluesbreaker cab with either Scumback or Celestion Gold speakers and a Dr.Z Airbrake.
I need to stop. I'm drooling all over my keyboard!

Sounds very tasty! I would go with the scumbacks so you could get that nice speaker breakup that the JTM loves. I use mine with the G12Cs in a 2x12 and it's killer when I get to crank it! :yea
