You have to also remember those videos online have also been processed to sound perfect. I have fantastic tone out of my JMD but its the head version going through a 1960A with Greenbacks and all the guitars sound really sweet except for the PRS with EMG's; too hot for me. Its all about playing with the knobs on that amp. I also use th effects loop trick but in switched mode as built in booster for the amp for additional gain in my leads.

I have a few different amps and since Oct 2010 when my JMD came home I only use the JMD for playing. Its a great amp IMO. I also agree 100% the Classic 57's pups by Gibson IMO are the best sounding ones they offer. These pups reside in my Custom, my Traditionals, my Studio's; they sound and act exactly like the older PAF pickups.
