New JMD 100w Owner & potential problem.

Postby WaRLaX » 07 Mar 2014, 08:29

First off, I would like to say thank you for the information some of yall (from Texas) have given here about this amp. I do have one qualm and it sits within the cleans. Compared to the Crunch, Overdrives and Leads the cleans seem to sound weak as in not producing enough output. Even with both volumes, gain and presence all the way up the cleans are far more quieter than the others. Anyone know if this is common? I picked this amp up which seems in pristine condition but I will be performing a bias today.

When you say "cleans", I'm assuming you are referring to the 1st 4 preamp models. First off, make sure you are you in manual mode when making your comparisons (ie. only changes being made are cycling through the preamp models) and all FX are turned off (modulation, delay, effects loop). In manual mode, with the gain set to 8, channel volume to 5, and all other controls set to 5, I do not hear a significant difference in the volume levels going through all the preamp models. There are a few that have slightly less/more volume, but overall pretty even. However, with the gain set to 5 or lower, the clean models (1-4) do have less volume than the rest. You just have to use a combination of the gain and channel volumes to balance your preset levels. Hope that helps.
