Modifying MIDI of JMD:1?

Postby Dieter » 20 Jun 2014, 07:05

Hi,

Unfortunately the JMD:1 is only working in the so called omni mode. If you want to use some MIDI gears together with the JMD:1 this is a issue.

Anybody here who modified the MIDI in functionality of the JMD to one certain MIDI channel?
Is this possible for a technician.

Best regards,

This question has been brought up repeatedly about the 6100 MIDI as well, and the answear is unless you can rewrite the code it aint gonna happen. It stays Omni mode.

That´s not the answer I wanted to hear. :-(

So for some MIDI gear I need something like MIDI Solutions Event Processor (needs also MIDI Solutions Power Adapter) or MIDIpal for the JMD:1 and have to program this MIDI device. :barf

You might want to consider looking at used midi patch bays/processors, such as the JL Cooper MSB. IIRC those had filter functions that could do what you wanted. You might be able to find one of those for cheap.

Another possibility is to use an iPad and midi interface, and run the app MidiBridge. That would also do what you wish. Midibridge is a bit hard to get going, but it will do amazing stuff once you figure it out. Their support is great as well.

However, as far as modding the JMD firmware to reject all but one midi channel, it would be best to forget it. That will never happen, unless by some miracle Marshall updates the JMD firmware to do such a thing. Do not hold your breath for this to happen though.

Thanks for your hints. Unfortunately it seems to be difficult to find an used midi patchbay/processors by JL Cooper MSB or others and easy reading manuals. Looks like a midi nerd business.

However, the best would be a JMD 2 with programmable midi channel. But I fear that will be a not fulfilled dream for ever.
