New JMD100 on it's way

Postby surfnorthwest » 18 Feb 2010, 08:33

Hats off to the guys at Sweetwater for finding me the amp. I get the first one they got. My sales guy just sent me out the FedEx tracking so it will be here next Wedesday :Thumbs

I have been trying for over three weeks to find one here in the US and a few places like Sam Ash and Music123 showed them in stock but they wern't. Anyways glad to have it finally coming and excited to see what it can do. Really excited to see how it does using the XLR out for direct recording, My thought is to record the JDM on one track while using the plexi or VM on another to get a nice widening effect.

Will post a initial review with a full honest review after I spend some time with it. I went with the 100watt head.

I am really curious to know what you think of it , i did not have found
the time yet to check it out.
With 28 presets , 4 channels, 4 modes, and all the effects and features
chris george is probably right that this is the most versatile amps marshall
has ever made.

It doesn't have channels in the traditional sense.

The 'channels' labeling simply refers to the four buttons on the front panel that wil recall your 4 favourite 'configurations' if you don't use the footswitch.

There is also a 'manual' button which means the amp behaves like an analogue amp inasmuch as that when you scroll through the various 'preamps' the settings will reflect the positions of the knob settings in their current positions. You can then select your favourite preamp sound and use it like you would any amp dialling the controls in real time.

If you do use the footswitch then you will have up to 28 configurations for instant recall.

If you use a MIDI controller then you will have up to 128 configurations for instant recall.
Still my guitar gently weeps

The tutorials on the Marshall theater that Chris did were very good, I already watched them a few times so I already feel as if I know the amp pretty well. Based on what I seen and some of the research I have done into Softtube which has the preamp technoilgy I am going to say that this amp will become extremly popular.

Hi Surf,

Not my kind of music but you can hear the strings slap so
this must be at very low volume. Check out the reverb at
1.45/1.48. Also with coil-tap i think this amp will sound
killer with a strat. With like 16 preamps at your disposal i
think this amp will be a big hit!!!
