Nashville, TN (August 2, 2018) -- The future of pedal boards is here. Rare Earth Music, LLC is introducing the first ever magnetically-powered and designed effects pedal board to decrease the hassles and limitations inherent with conventional pedal boards.

The patented Earthboard next-gen design, incorporates rare earth magnets (the strongest magnets available), a steel-rail system and a long-lasting rechargeable battery that together, provides power and sound to effects pedals and removes the messy cobweb of adapter cords. The rechargeable battery eliminates the need for wall electricity and provides a true isolated power source that removes noise interference, annoying hums and grounding issues.

Features:

Cordless design makes set up and tear down quick and easy
No pedal daisy-chaining required
Less tangle of cords means a cleaner, safer stage front
Long lasting rechargeable battery provides hours of uninterrupted playtime
User friendly battery with indicator and warning lights gives confidence
Battery provides a true isolated power source for a purer sound
Rare earth magnets secure pedals to the docking station making it completely portable
Gravity Boots allow pedals to easily be changed out and rearranged on the board
No need for frustrating Velcro ripping or permanent zip ties

Greg Karas, lead guitar for Andy Grammer, uses the Earthboard and said it is “the future of pedalboards” and will “keep your tone clear”.

There are three Earthboard models that hold 5, 7 or 11 standard size pedals. Each full system includes the docking station (board), gravity boots & tethers and rechargeable battery & battery boot. The full systems range in price from $349-$649 depending on size and base material (available in polypropylene and aluminum).

It has four fundamental design flaws though, all due to the common power rail:

1) Not all pedals run on 9v.

2) Some pedals require reverse polarity

3) It’s still a daisy chain, albeit parallel instead of series. Any noise introduced by a pedal will leak onto all pedals. Digital pedals and analog pedals with digital clocks (chorus, flanger & delay) will wreak havoc with this system

4) High risk of shorting out the board due to spilt drinks, metal objects landing on it (think steel/chrome guitar slides), drunk punters, etc.

And what about loop switchers? How are they mounted & powered?

Oh, and it looks fairly easy to steal someone’s pedals from under their nose at a gig.

I’m not sold on this yet.
