Instant scooped Metal, with demo

Postby surfnorthwest » 07 Mar 2009, 12:15

I picked up a Electro-Harmonix Nano Pocket Metal Muff so I could build those heavy scooped metal tones without using a eq or my modeler. Holy batman :eek instant rip your face of metal tones. With just a little distortion at 9:00 o'clock even the VM in high range was articulate enough to hear all the notes.

With the Plexi it is as heavy as you will hear out of any amp. I have to laugh that I am pimping a $63 pedal but this thing rocks, and it is true bypass with no noise at all...crazy. If you are looking to get these metal tones out of the VM try this pedal, it really works. For this price the thing is a true bargin.

Told you, :bgrin the recording was a little rough but I just walked in the studio to make a little something. One thing you might notice is how quite the pedal was, for $63 it is a worthy buy.

Wow! I think Dimebag Darrel is rolling over in his grave after hearing that low range clip and hearing that tone he was chasing with Krank! Sounds great, definately Randallish. Did you have the mid scoop engaged for this clip? Damn you Surf, giving me gas again! I think this pedal covers the one hole in the VM tonal spectrum.... 1990's on up brutal metal. I may be able to sell the 6505+ and get me a VM again! As a side note, I recently bought a Radial Plexitube pedal and love it through my 6505+ , but would say it is more JCM800 on the 1st channel and DSL 100 on 2nd. Not a bad thing in my opinion as outside of the VM and Plexi these are my other favorite Marshalls. :yea :jam

Totally agree, if gives the VM the ability to do acceptable metal. The mid scoop switch was in the middle position on the demo.

That pedal is unreal. I wish I'd had one of those back in the day.

Here's a good video demo:

Surf,

Could you post your VM settings for low and high range? I really liked your core tone in this clip.

Thanks.

Presence - 5
Reverb - 3
Master - 7
Treb - 6
Mid - 8
Bass -6
Detail - 4
Body -7

That is basically how I run with this amp, although I will adjust body and detail depending on what I am doing. Also the master may come up a bit for lead work.

The first pedal that I bought after my 2266c was micro metal muff. Sometimes I boosted the amp with the distorsion pedal at 0 and volumen between 12:00 and 15:00.

I get a metal sound rich in harmonics :yea

Great demo!
