Fulltone OCD Help

Postby ste_blue » 21 May 2009, 06:47

Hey guys. Been a while since I've posted here.

Anyways, I finally got the OCD after numerous rave reviews on here over the last while.
Great pedal and perfect for a good rock sound combined the the VM.

One question I have though is what kind of power supply does everyone run it on. I had it plugged into my Diago power station last night (9v) and it sounded awesome.

I know it can use 9v or 18v but is there much difference or advantages/disadvantages.

I run mine off of a Gator 8-bus power supply. I like mine on 9v power. I difference to me was that the 18v sounded cleaner and more stiff. Might be good for SRV style or for more of a boost type setting. If you like it on 9v then stick with it.

Thanks for the reply.

Another thing I noticed last night in the studio was I am getting a rather noticable pop/click when I turn the OCD on. Is this normal or should I be taking it back for replacement? This is my first true bypass pedal so apologies in advance if this is normal.

You get a pop from most true bypass pedals. On some of them you can discharge the static or whatever it is by stomping the pedal a few times before using it. Youll probably always get some kind of pop though. Just make sure youre playing something when you stomp when playing live! :)

Ah cool. As long as its normal its all good.

I can always use my keeley looper pedal and have the ocd on that always on, using the looper to turn the pedal on and off. Should stop the clicks and pops.

Cheers guys

I run my OCD on 9V, but the manual says any amount between 9V and 18V is fine as long as center pin is negative, and "the higher the voltage, the cleaner, louder, and more dynamic the sound"

anyhow, I haven't tried it, but I guess I should.

I run mine on 18 volts and love it. However, I have not done a real comparison. Try it.
