Its interesting that his rig is relatively simple. It kinda makes sense to me in that his sound is more of a stripped down raw rock sound. I've seen most of the rig rundowns from www.premierguitar.com and more guys seem to be moving to simpler rigs (not all). In one of the videos, DJ Ashba of Guns N' Roses says he got rid of his extensive system and used an Axe FX 2 direct into the PA now.

You can see that the Master Volume knob on JCM 800 is set to 3 and Gain at 10. EQ knobs are set almost the same as AFD100. I see no point in doing this. May be Gain is set to 1.0 ?
Any way I didn't hear any clean tone in his recorded concert in Sydney. Sounds like AFD100 with rolled back guitar volume knob.
Amps: AFD 100 - 1960 AV - Vintage Modern 2466 - Class 5 Combo MK1
Guitars: Gibson SG Standard (SD APH-2s) - Fender Stratocaster Highway One

Hey, I got to talki to Slash last month in Brussels, Belgium.

He runs both the AFD and the new JCM800 reissue together for his dirty sound. For cleans, he Just rolls his volume down.
I was standing front row in front of his cabs for the show, and I must say he sounded awesome !
The JCM800 reissue has been modded with 6550 output tubes, but is stock. And yes, it's true that the Master volume is set to 3 and the preamp to 10 on that head.

I asked Slash about the #34 JCM800 he uses in the studio (together with the AFD100), and he told me the settings on that amp were the same.
So contrary to popular belief, Slash doesn't run the Master very high in the #34 mode (and his trusted #34 JCM800) , but he dimes the preamp gain.

I hope this clears up things for many of you out there.
