AFD100 Update

Postby surfnorthwest » 10 Sep 2010, 18:25

Oh yea, I get a AFD T-shirt :dance
The AFD project is moving along at a steady rate, with all hands on deck working hard to hit the deadlines. Our Procurement guys are busily sourcing parts for the first production run while pre-production heads are being readied for the approvals and production testing process. Marketing are finalising cosmetics and related literature, R&D are poised with their Les Pauls at the ready for some serious sonic testing and the Project Manager, at the helm is ensuring everything is on course and pushing forward to the big launch.

With our attentions fixed on the release of the general 2300 run, we can again confirm that this amp will come complete with an AFD dust cover, Marshall AFD owners club t-shirt, certificate of authenticity, plus a certificate signed by all those in our UK factory that have assisted in the build of your specific unit. We are still deciding on the exact list of extras that are to come with the Special Collectors Edition, but will announce this once it is all confirmed

Yep about three weeks ago, I get the first one Sweetwater gets. Probably won't see it until early December. Not a big Slash fan but I can't pass up a hot rod 100 watt 2203 type amp with power scaling. I was going to buy a Suhr Badger anyways but since this one has the power scaling I passed on the Suhr and got this.

How the hell do you pre-order? Looks like I might be taking some of my student loan and putting just a 'tad' towards a nice new amp. :)

I called my sales engineer at Sweetwater who in turn called his KORG rep. Sales guy verified Sweetwater would be getting some (don't know how many) but I get the first one they get. $1999.00.

I got is because I miss my old 2203 and this one has power scaling and I was looking to get a amp that had that feature anyways. Just so happened the timing was right.

Wow, they have seven spoken for already huh? Sweetwater and Musicians Friend will probably see the biggest allocation. I pushed my sales guy to see how many they are getting and he honestly did not know bucause KORG didn't know for sure yet. He knows for sure he is getting at least 3 but he figured it was going to be more like 30 amps.

Bluesbrother, if you get the chance to see Slash on his current tour I think you'll be surprised.

Amazing what a clear head and a stable band will do for you... :bgrin :bgrin :bgrin

I've always liked Slash's tone and felt he was wasting himself (both physically and musically) away. The title of that first album, Appetite For Destruction, was eerily prophetic. The fact that all members of G'n'R are still alive is nothing short of miraculous.

Anyhoo..., Slash delivers the goods on stage, if blues-rock is your thing. (It's mine :blues )

I have an AFD100 and I'm looking forward to it, not because it's a Slash amp, but for all teh features it has and the versatility including teh auto-bias feature allowing different tubes makes for lots of hours of fun experimenting. :party :party :party
Be good... or be good at it!!!

I'm not sure I "pre-ordered." I'm actually I'm actually doubting that I'll see it. I called sweetwater, they took a credit card number to hold one in my name, but I haven't been charged anything yet. We'll see.

Nobody has one yet and probably won't until December (USA anyways). Slash is really the only person right now that can review this amp and provide sound clips and he is doing a preety good job of that in his recent shows.

Finally ... I got an email from my prefered Marshall dealer saying that I am able to make a pre-order.
The price was surprisingly lower than I expected (in addition to my "very good customer" discount) so I ordered 2 .....
One for the band/road usage and for playing/recording at home !

Oh yes .... :beerme
