volume drop on my Marshall AFD100

Postby Vandenborne gunter » 26 Aug 2011, 11:15

I have now the second Marshall AFD100 amp which has a volume drop.
I play not so loud but at a some moments the volume goes down and sometime back up.
Does somebody has the same issue.
To me it is really strange that both amps have the same issue.

Do you play with the power control very low? Check your AC jack. If it´s unstable it can cause these problems i´ve read.

I play with the power control on 1/4 and the master volume 1/2. I used different cables but the issue doesn't change (still sometimes volume drop).

I have read about this issue, but havent encountered it.

Sounds like you have a bit of bad luck with two amps that do it. Sorry bro.

It was stated before, it could be your wall jack. Try plugging the amp into a different wall jack, with a different AC power cable. Although, it just might be the power in your house. I know at my old house if I was playing guitar and my parents turned on the washer or dryer or vaccum etc my amp would go quiet then go right back to being loud. Almost like how the lights would dim and then go bright again.

unstable power outlet seemed to be the issue especially when the attenuation is all the way down.
The powerscaling on the lowest setting is more sensitive to any power supply fluctuations.
