Me thinks i need a 4x12

Postby kissfanps » 13 Dec 2011, 08:25

I have a real love/hate relationship with this amp. Some days its great (like today) while some days I can't stand it.

One thing I notice is that I don't really dig the 2x12 with this amp. A lot of the high end disappears while I stand. If I'm level with the speakers its there. The sound does not disperse very will. I am thinking an angled 4x12 will do the trick. It will also give me more bass response, no?

Yes, more bass thump, plus the cool factor. Don't skimp on a good cab, think in terms of a long term investment.

I have never tried the AFD on a 2x12 yet .. but I love it with a 4x12.
Since the amp is bright its great to get that low end 4x12 thump.

My AFD and Legacy 2x12" go well together, for the size nothing can beat it. But a bigger cab will of course sound bigger and better if sitting side by side!

Try raising up your cab for gigs/practice, that will help it reach your ears a bit better.

Do we think the vm combo could handle that weight?

Don't see why not, people stack amp cabinets on top of each other all the time.
