Anyone using the Slash Alnicos?

Postby Bountyhunter » 11 Nov 2010, 15:14

I have a set and haven't put them in yet. The stuff I saw on Youtube sounded pretty good. I like the neck pickup ok in the Studio, but I don't like the bridge pickup. I'm hoping the Slash set will get me a little closer to a bluesy sound than the stocks do.

How about the original Alnicos?

What's the difference between those "slash" pickups and the SD Alnico II Pros ? I have a set of those in my Explorer and they sound great , definatley not high output , but great classic heavy rock sound with lots of detail . :Thumbs

My understanding is that the Slash set is a little hotter.

Always been very surprised he uses II's and not V's.

I have them installed in my Les Paul. Stock Burstbusters were a lot brighter than the Slash Alnicos.

Great pick-ups. Well worth the cost.

Bounty hunter,

I've got a set of Seymour Duncan Slash AlNiCo II reverse zebras in my Les Paul and they do sound great. I am very pleased with the sound through my VM 2266. Plenty of crunch and they sustain all night long. Very please!

Both Alnico 2's kick ass! the Bridge & Neck pickup. I've had mine since 2003 & haven't looked back yet. I might be looking to get the Slash signature ones soon for my new black Les Paul.

Of course just recently I found the Slash pickup height settings :) 1/8th for the bridge & 7/32s for the neck. Makes the difference!
