I have a Question

Postby kerrpow » 11 Sep 2011, 08:08

A little over a year ago I was running an SG standard with a BB pro in the bridge, sounded great with the VM combo, but the neck on the guitar was very shallow, even by slim taper standards.

So I dumped that guitar ( after a refret and re-radius of fret board) and snagged an 05 standard faded,60's neck in tobbacco burst, very cool looking, nice playing peice with Duncan antiquity pups, good vintagey vibe/sound again through my Vm combo.

What pick ups out there that you gear whores have used or heard of that have / had similiar characteristics of Burstbucker pros?

Thanks in advance to any that reply.

hey kiss fan,
thanks for the reply. That's what I'm asking, like the Bare knuckles, anything comprable in their line ? or those wcr (?) etc.

I've always fallen back on DiMarzios and it may be time to try something diffrent.

Figured I ask for opinions based on personal experiances.

gotta ask ya, where'd you snag those PS hotter than hell boots ?

killer !

thanks

As kissfan said... Buy some Burstbucker Pros...!

As for Bare Knuckles, the Burstbuckers were introduced to replicate the original PAF sound so Bare Knuckle Mules might be a good starting. My main Les Paul has a pair of Emeralds in which is slightly hotter than a PAF (think 70s Les Paul Custom). The BK site has sound clips so go see what you like the sound of.

WCR Darkbursts should be somewhat near aswell i think, i have not tried them myself but i got the betset which is freaking awesome for everything from clean to hardrocking blues (think badass Gary moore goes wild in the ammount of gain), can highly recomend them.
