Right fellas,
After a day of valve swops and different config's i have come up with what suites me and my amp best,here goes.
v1 old 60's mullard
v2 tung sol reissue
v3 jj cryo (harma)
v4 jj cryo (harma)
changes this amp from mild mannered to insane bad ass ,i've already put the back cover back on as i know i won't be changing any time soon and just bought 2 old blackburn matched mullards off ebay, testing 100%so seem all good . so i can keep this tone going in years to come,might give the 2266 one .I was not convinced at the mullard mythology but after fitting my first in the yjm i'm a convertee.The only improvement i could make on this is to get some harma cryo EL34's

What kind of music do you play? I am looking for a nice 80's hard rock/metal sound kind of overdriven/hot rodded plexi like gnr/vh type gain (maybe a little more) and sound. What do you recommend for that from the tubes you tried?

The mullard and Tungsol have a great 3d effect to the tone. Good combo! I personally would leave the power tubes stock. They are svetlana winged c's and are considered to be up there with the best of new production el34s.

Yea it does sound nice now ,really nice but some watford valves ,harma cryo treaded mullard clones are on the way so i'll update after they are fitted' read only good things about watford's cryo stuff.

Are the cryo treated Mullard clones the ones made by New Sensor?

Hey john, new cryo el34 fitted
i dont know as to the new sensor thing,they are watford valve EL34 retro,to my eyes they look the same as a wingd c ? but cryo treated are supposed to be the best thing going over here.Well i think there's a big tonal change between the cryo and the marshall winged c ,and i prefer the winged c,at first test.When ever i orderd harma cryo before they made so much difference but this time not so sure the pre's mullard 1960's NOS not new sensors these mullards are old made in england £100 a go so they are the real jobs.shame as i paid a lot of money for the watford cryo and the stock winged c sound better.The cryo is more bright and middle not so much bass,plus the mid frequency has changed.
Winged c's being refitted. the cryo sound is so pure and hi-fi don't get me wrong they sound fukin amazing but just not rock and roll enough.maybe they need to burn in a little we will see?

I play GnR ,acdc ,scorpions,extreme, stuff like that and yea this setup will do it all easily the new pre's made a big change to the tone

I am going to have to eat my words regarding the watford valve cryo EL34's ,after a weekend of tweaking i sort of get what all the fuss(and expense) is about,after a bit more burn in time they seemed to open up and start sounding big a little more bass channel was dialed in but it stayed clear and not boomy ,so i do like em now and will leave em in i think
