YJM speaker test

Postby Alpeggio » 28 Dec 2012, 04:30

Hi guys, just thought I'd share this test I did, of the YJM going through a G12H 55,
Then a T75, and finally both speakers mixed 60/40 in favour of the G12H.

My 1936 cab has these speakers fitted, and the G12H has a sensitivity of 100db, while the T75 is rated at 97db. This gives a great blend with the T75 just adding bass and detail to the lush mids from the G12H.

Good work!

I prefer the T75... it sound more "crisp" .... the power gain compression is more audible
Anyway, with both speakers the cab seems to sound very balanced..

Great demo of showing just how big of a difference speakers can make. The matched clip is not better then the first one IMO but heck, even Yngwie himself uses the T75s.

I am running my YJM with a 425A and wouldn't change a thing.

Thanks guys, there's a lot of interest in the G12H 55 these days. I got a second condenser mic for Christmas, so now I can blend the 2 speakers as desired.

Its the normal C-1 XLR connection. I've not tried it with the SM57, but I see what your saying, I could blend the two mic's from one speaker.
To be honest, I was blown away by the C-1, I went to the shop for a B-1 but they were out of stock, so I got the C-1 but thought for that price it will be a pile of crap. I am totally happy with it, I spent 1/2 hour on mic placement, but now I know where to put it to get the sound I'm hearing in the room, I can setup quickly, which is also important.
