How did you adjust the amp? I never really got it to work for me. But Hendrix was a fuzz pedal user so maybe it works better for those kind of tones. I myself don´t like using distortion units. And one thing that you almost have to do on the YJM attenuated is to jumper the channels. I don´t like doing that either. I think you tend to lose some of the crunch then. The tone gets a bit stiffer. It´s like when you turn on the mid boost on the VM.

Mats there's no going back now, we have it in black and white that you like the tone of a Fully attenuated (quiet) YJM 100!!!
Sounds like your mind set was wrong, you don't like this and don't like that. This has imposed great restrictions on you and the YJM.
I like everything (pedals, linked channels, EPA) and so was able to work with everything the amp had, in order to get over the problem of running a Monster amp at bedroom level. However, my breakthrough was when Morgan Pettersson posted his settings on YT for high gain, and I have here reduced the gain while maintaining the Tone.

My settings on this post were;
Pres=6 / Bass=10 / Mid=6 / Treb=6 / Vol1=2 /(Linked) Vol2=6 / OD gain=7 / OD vol=10 / Gate on 5 / Rev=4 / EPA 7o'clock and 50watt mode. Also reverb was added with the mixer's on board Lexicon unit. Speaker G12H55hz.

That really sounds great Al. Interestingly to me, I have an easier time getting good results with EPA set very aggressively than I do with it set in the middle range. Actually, I take that back....I think it sounds great in the mid ranges by myself, but struggle a bit to get it where I want it in a band situation. I'm certain that it's me though. Like you, I tend to pair it with G12H55s also (in a 1960bhw in my case) which helps. I like the amp a bunch...just haven't found it super easy to set right in a mix with another guitarist and the rest of the band. You're inspiring me to get it right though.

Thanks aristotle, do you use it with a Strat or those P90 Les Pauls?

I realize that my settings are specific to my home studio, and for those of you in a band situation, a much different setup is needed. I just made the best of a bad situation, and for one thing I know the speaker will sound better when given more juice than I can at the moment.

I think what Mats A said makes sense with Humbuckers, I tried it with my Yamaha SG3000S and it sounds good just using the treble channel cranked and with the DOD pedal off, but EPA at 7o'clock.
