JHM1 (Fuzz Face) and YJM

Postby Alpeggio » 14 Mar 2013, 15:10

This was suggested by Mats A, So I'm playing my Vintage Thomas Blug Strat into the YJM with both volumes on half, using the JHM1 pedal for drive. I'm using the middle pickup and guitar volume was on about 8.
What I like about this tone is you can hear the typical Fuzz Face tone but in a controlled, not OTT way.

That sounds really cool Al. Our worship band leader at church built me some cool fuzz pedal for Christmas and I am sorry to say that I have yet to plug it in and try it out. I will have to do it maybe this weekend. It is a very small pedal so I can probably make some room for it on my board if I like it. He built my BYOC TS808 overdrive clone also. I LOVE that sucker with my YJM100 for George Lynch type stuff. :bgrin

But I am the resident JJ, Fuzz, and attenuator hater.

I bet I could find some ways to use a fuzz pedal with my YJM100 for a song or at least a part here and there while playing modern worship music at church. My YJM100 has pulled off a lot of different styles and tones over the last year.

Thanks for your replies guys, this is early days for me testing the Fuzz with the YJM.

John, if you get your hand made Fuzz to work, let us know.

Surf, I too am a 90% Fuzz hater, but, like you I'm a big fan of Joe Bonamassa, and how he uses the Fuzz for sustain and to give an edge to an otherwise overly rounded tone. So I continue testing.
