Every once in a while it seems a member of the forum will acquire a YJM and decide it's not for him. I'd say post a message in the classifieds here and see if anyone responds.
Happiness is playing a Gibson guitar through a Marshall amplifier.

Yes, this is a 100 watt amp; switchable to 50 watts, but also has a build in attenuator (called EPA) that allows you to take the amp to .01 watts.

When this amp was first released I never though I would own it because I thought it was "voiced" like YJM's playing. But its not. The tone YJM gets is largely through his technique. The amp is based around a 1959 plexi; is loaded with a ton of modern features, and is considered to be one of the best amps Marshall ever produced. They are very limited, with only 1500 produced, and only 400 shipped the the US.

I'm selling my YJM because I am mostly a hobbiest with a ton of other amps, including a Marshall AFD and a 900 SL-X.

According to my guitar and amp sales person (from whom I purchased my 50th LP 1960 R0 and JTM45/100), they still have a brand new, in-the-box YJM head in stock.

I was over there Saturday a week ago and inquired about what "special" items they might have in their basement. He checked the computer and said they have a new YJM and a 1959 HW Plexi. Though not listed on their site, it might be worth checking out if you're in the U.S.. Closed on Sundays, however. http://www.chucklevins.com/.

Hope this helps.

Where can I purchase a yjm these days? Discontinued maybe

I've had two YJM's. It's a great amp if you can cranck it. The problem is when you turn down on the EPA you lose most of the distortion. The built in booster wich is kind of a Dod clone only sounds good when you jumper the channels. Otherwise it takes a lot of the low end away. The amp is almost as deep as a Marshall B cab and weighs 26 Kg if i remember correctly. My sounded best crancked with my Marshall Power Brake. So it's much easier to have a Standard 1959 and an attenuator that lets the whole amp go on max than use the EPA where the OT only gets the wattage you set the EPA at. Also it is very heavy to carry around to rehearsals and gigs.

Agree with everything Mats A says! I don't know what the fuss is with the built in EPA, the amp sounds way better through a good attenuator.
I use a Riviera RockCrusher, sounds amazing.....the amp has some serious gain running through the rockcrusher as appose to the EPA where it barely gets crunchy!

That is true at high volume, but I think if you have to heavily attenuate, then the EPA is more natural and less compressed, then I just link the channels and use the boost and you're in tonal heaven, probably a better home amp even than the 1 watt JMP.
We have someone here who likes his AFD for home use more than the 1 watt too using the EPA.
But yes EPA kills the gain, that is true.

It's when you attenuate heavily with the EPA you lose much of the distortion. You lose tone also. The amp sounds thinner and more harsh. If you want to use a distortion pedal and have solid state clipping you can make it work. But if you want just valve distortion like Angus Young John Sykes and many more you're smoked.
