Self-Bias Question

Postby ufguy73 » 20 Jan 2012, 13:02

i was thinking about trying a Variac in front of a plexi style amp to toy around with some EVH brown sounds...

my understanding is that the amp should really be re-biased when running at a lower voltage, as when you use a variac.

does the YJM self-biasing take care of this issue if i wanted to use a variac?

would i run the self-bias procedure with the amp going thru the variac at start up?

OR would the YJM somehow self-bias on the fly when the voltage gets lowered via the Variac - since the amp is somehow able to re-bias when using the EPA, i am hoping it would do whatever it needs to do to operate safely if i was using a variac.

thanks!!
