Tubes on the Haze 40

Hi everyone,

I recently had to change my power tubes on my haze 40 because there was a crakling sound coming out the amp. I have read that the tubes used by Marshall were Shuguang EL34b or ruby EL34b. I bought two pairs of each of them.
With both of the pairs, the crakling sound was gone, but something was missing in the sound. It was warmless, less gain, anyway not the sound that I was in love to. So for now I don't really know what to do. I would like to have some of your experiences with this amp especially when you had to change the tubes. I am new here, I still don't know if you talked about this already. I am still searching...

Hey! Have you tried any other tubes? I have only had my Haze 40 for a couple months, but it's been an eventful couple months.

Anyway, mine came with JJ EL34s and 12AX7s marked "Marshall." I bought it as new old stock from a local shop, so I don't know if they were stock or not. I'm pretty sure I've read that some did come stock that way.

Of course, tube preferences are subjective, but I've read that the best combination is Tung-Sol for the preamp and JJ for the power. After changing the speaker to an Eminence Governor, I've been pretty happy with the sound, but I am picking up some Tung-Sols just to see what happens.

The amp should probably be biased. If you can't. Take it to a technician.
