Crunch channel on JVM HJS

Postby Mats A » 02 Sep 2013, 13:12

I wonder exactly how similar is the circuit on the Crunch channel on the JVM HJS to a 2203 Marshall?

I think I read somewhere that crunch amber is an exact clone.

Sorry I can't remember where I read this! I checked the manual and Joe says crunch amber is "based on" the 2203.

The clean green channel is a direct clone of a Marshall LM6100 clean channel.
The crunch orange is an exact clone of a Marshall JCM800 (2203).
The crunch red channel is almost identical to an AFD100 in AFD mode.

This amp get more tempting all the time. I had no idea it could get the tones of all these amps including the VM. They are a lot of money but the four built in noise gates would be a godsend in smaller venues.

Best channel switching Marshall since the 6100 in my opinion, maybe better.

It doesn't nail the VM in LDR but clean red gets closest.

I disagree!

It takes some time to find the "best" settings. But NO buzz and fizz in my opinion. Please explain, what you mean.

I wonder how do you set up the amp? The regular JVM can be a bit fizzy but not the JVM HJS.

Just being a wise-guy and general rib nudger. Actually, I posted a thread from the JVM forum regarding starting from a zero point eq and going from there to coax a more classic Marshall sound out of the JVM. I'm wondering if it translates to the HJS version as well. Naw, I'm all in on the amp. Would like to get my hands on one in a store somewhere. I'd unload a bunch of gear if it's up to its billing.

Yeah, try it. It´s a great amp. One of the best in many years in my opinion.
