That is a good question, I personally prefer my two 1960BX cabinets I have with the 2466 and that is what I use. I think the difference is voiced in the mids. I think the 425 is a better option for blues type tones but for harder rock or higher gain stuff I do prefer these 1960 vintage cabinets.

Honestly I think the biggest difference is that my 425 cabinet still isn't broke in all the way yet. I spend most of my time using my well broke in 1960s instead. My 425 cab is still "fizzy" but I know it is the breaking in issue because my original 425 I bought with this head in 2007(which I no longer have) was not fizzy at all after it was broke in all the way.

This one I have now is brand new. I bought in purple about 8 months ago only because Steve had said purple was no longer going to be available so I went out and got another 425A to have the matching cab. Going to have to spend more time with the 425 getting it broke in.

I will try to A/B them this weekend and post a clip.

I presume you with 1960 Vintage cabs ment the cab with Greenbacks and not Vintage 30´s?

Im running the VM into a 1960bx & 425a :yea

I bought the 1960bx second hand and he told me it was from around 92
And ive had the 425a for a little under a year and has had a fair amout of use at high volume so i think both cabs are pretty worn in.

to be honest there is not alot in it!

I find the 425a a little deeper sounding but i havent compared in a while and theres a good chance it was not broken in!

Ill do a better comparison as soon as i get the chance

Looking forward to hearing that. In other words you mean there is not a big difference between the two? Do you think the difference is worth a change?

I am going to say the same thing when someone says "the VM doesn't sound good."
If you can't get a great tone out of the VM, it isn't the amp.

If you can't get a great tone out of the JVM, it ain't the amp either.
Crossroadsnyc douche of the year, and everyone at TGP tied for 2nd

Amen brother!

I sound the same no matter what amp I play.
The choice of guitar makes some difference, especially humbucker vs single coil, but overall I sound the same.
I instinctively plug in and dial up "my" tone within seconds.
I don't understand how this is so difficult for others.
Dime that puppy!!!
