Thanks for the tips sugarkane. Only one concert to see during my visit and that will be the Marshall concert at Webmbley Arena. I found a brand new Hilton directly across the street from it but the Hotels in London are rather expensive. Some of them are dumps too.

I will have about 3 days free total to visit the city, plan on taking the tube and checking things out. I am a bit confused about the food, I know I don't want anything like bangers and pie. Oh well, I am sure there is plenty to eat. The War room of Churchill might be interesting, he really was a great leader IMO. Really looking forward to seeing the city for the first time, seeing the Marshall factory and seeing Steve and Chris. I know Chris gets to perform at the concert also so this will be a big night for him. :jam

Oh, well if you're going to pick one concert you've got a good one.

Re food: I'm just going to come right out and say this - the standard of steaks in America is unbelievably good compared to the UK. :sport This really matters to me. So if you see a walk-in steakhouse then beware, it's likely to be an overpriced tourist trap of bad meat and might not be the standard you expect at home.

There's plenty of good food about but it is less good value than the States, it can be pricey if you're choosy. I went for a three-course meal with a friend last weekend and the bill was a typical £90 ($135-ish) for the two of us and we weren't drinking. It was nice but not earth-shakingly good. Your hotel desk or maybe the Marshall lads should find decent Italian, Chinese, Seafood, Indian restaurants. Most English eating out is dominated by foreign food, not traditional local stuff. Good Fish n' Chips is fantastic for us, though not for everyone.

P.S. I really enjoyed The Churchill War Rooms - takes about an hour and you can pick up a good tape recorded walkthrough that enhances it. Round the corner from the Houses of Parliament which is a beautiful building but not set up for tourists at all times of the year - kind of like visiting The White House or the Pentagon. It's a working place for politics.

Is it still a working studio or a tourist attraction only now?

Check this out, all these tourist dodging cars, then walking into the crosswalk for a photo.

I'm not so sure mate, i keep hearing different things. But if your in the Westminster area might as well stand outside it, write your name on the wall outside it and get a photo walking across the crossing, hah.

It's still a working studio and there is a TV series running here where name bands play "live" from Abbey Road. I'm not a particular Maiden fan but this example was ... impressive.

or

(You can see the exterior, interior and Marshall racks)

Basically, you can look/add to the grafitti collection on the outside walls, take a photo at the zebra crossing (as per The Beatles) and you might see someone famous coming or going. That's it.

BTW - You know Churchill was half-American, right?

I loved living over in the UK; I was there almost 5 years and I knew London better than the local city of Gulfport which is maybe a 1/4 of Londons size. I am a history buff and I loved the history; too bad you are only there a short amount of time. Cambridge is also a great city as is Nottingham; and so many more not really on the map. I am unsure what the London D is like now but back in the 80's it was unbelievable how we treated prisoners and I honestly believe we should go back to those ways. Although thats me.........
