Gas Poll

What do you believe the US should adopt as its energy policy going forward into the next administration?

It is my take that you get the federal government off the backs of companies and get rid of these regulations that are keeping us from becoming energy independent. I believe we can safely operate nuclear reactors giving us unlimited cheap electricity, drill for oil both in Alaska and off shore with no realistic effect on the environment, and drop these stupid regulations and allow for oil shale recovery in Colorado. To say these operations cannot occur while still protecting the environment is brainwashed thinking IMO

And while I am all for alternative sources, we have to be serious about how long it will take before these technologies become both affordable and feasible.

I voted to allow drilling and nuke plants

but simon is also gay, but not as important, unless you could harness his gayness, maybe team him up with boy george and george michael for some kind of gay power plant, probably power up san francisco AND cher's wardrobe at the same time.

Time to start drilling in the US... it is long overdue anyway.

I agree completely. I live about 20? or so miles from Palo Verde nuclear power plant. Never bothered me a bit.

I would support Thorium plants, been reading up on them a bit and it seems really viable alternative, less waste, no meltdowns, short halflife (hundreds of years, not millions with Uranium), huge supplies, burns hot enough to dispose of our other nuclear waste, no u232 for making bombs (less security costs), 4x as much thorium in the earths as uranium, smaller plant.

Anyways, kind of an interesting and hopefully realistic long term solution. I am not totally against Uranium plants, I just think that if we can Thorium appears to be a more promising solution. I worry about nuclear waste and meltdowns, I don't so much with the current state of things, but building a bunch more Uranium based reactors only increases the chance for problems.
