Re: Gary Moore has passed away.

Postby sugarkane » 06 Feb 2011, 15:27

The first concert I saw in 1985 was Gary Moore's "Out in the Fields"-era tour. I saw him twenty-five years later on his most recent U.K. tour.

I have remarked to friends recently that we shouldn't count on these guys being around forever. I saw Jeff Beck a few months back - in his sixties I have never been in the room with better, more moving, music. Sad indeed to have our worse fears confirmed so soon by the loss of an irreplaceable talent.

A special convergence of historical events - social, technological, musical - produced an era of unrepeatable beauty and impact. This generation of 60s & 70s Rock musicians - we will never see the like again. We should cherish them and their music while we can.

R.I.P.

What a drag, we've lost a one-of-a-kind. Thank-you Gary.

My favorite track from him has been posted here before and worth reposting...

Dang, this is heartbreaking. Great talent. 58 is a good life but still way to young.

As much as I would like to punch blues guitarists for playing the same thing for decades, Gary Moore was a truly talented player who never fell into that trope. One of the blues guitarists I could get behind and respect, his playing was stellar.

He will be missed.
