A friend of a friend runs a Crossfit gym close to me. I've never done it but a few friends have and have said it's a very intense regimen but if you can stick with it, it does wonders. Basically, it's a cult of people committed to doing the most intense physical workouts they can as a means to see how far you can push yourself. It works if you can get your mind into that kind of thinking and use it as motivation to keep improving.
I'm going to give it a try at some point but I've worked my own five day routine for years (three days cardio, two days weights) that's worked well for me so I'm not really interested in changing because I'm too lazy leave my house and go to a gym.
