Question: JMP1 US Availability

Postby Cousin Muely » 03 Apr 2012, 17:50

Ok, i have the JTM1 Combo coming and should be here tomorrow. Coming from Musicians Friend. I had noticed on their site yesterday that they were taking preorders for the JMP. I don't think i saw the JMP on there Saturday when i ordered the JTM (could be wrong) so i wasnt in a hurry to order just yet. I thought "Cool!! Starting to become available!!" Well i look on there today and it has been cancelled or not available. Im like 'Shit, i knew i should've just went ahead a ordered it'. Call me having more money than sense whatever but i have my heart set on the first 3. JTM, JMP, JCM. Played for a long time but I play at home now mostly, recording backing tracks on a multitrack..etc and these will be perfect for me. Can somebody "in the Know" set the record straight on the availability of the JMP1 Combo for US distribution. I find it hard to believe the JTM Combo is still available on M/F after all this time and then the JMP to just be "sold out" this quick. Are they that popular? I hope this is just a first run. :scared2

Marshall USA is the distributor here in the US and unless you have a willing person in the know over there all we can go off is the information told to the retailers by them. Currently the Marshall guy over at Sweetwater says that the JMP1 will begin shipping to the first customers on there list of 4/30. The JCM1H on 7/30. Europe has got a few already because of the logistics obviously.

Best to contact a retailer that can assure you that you are in the que to get one. I do not know what the line looks like over at Sweetwater or MF. Give a few a call and see where you feel the most comfortable.

Yes, Thanks for the reply. I contacted Musicians Friend today and they couldnt tell me when or if there would be anymore JMPs. Also sent an email to Marshall USA but no response yet. Got my JTM1 Combo in today and am loving this little joker. Now i want the JMP1 even more :shredder Advertisement is right!! Perfect amp for the house. Les Paul + Treble Boost + Wah + JTM cranked sounds pretty killer to me.

Whilst you guys are waiting, just got mine today in the uk :bgrin
Was contemplating between the head or combo. However opt for the combo so I could lounge in the living room.
It's such a joy to look at as well.

Yeah man.....what HE said. What is your thoughts on the JMP? I agree on getting the combo. I wanted the head because it did look cool but the combo comes with a speaker and.... :think after reading what i just typed that sounds dumb as hell but i think you get my point :whatever . I like my JTM so far. Very warm compressed sound. Perfect for a Treble boost pedal.

We've ABed the JTM and JMP in the shop today, both sounded quite close tonally. The JMP is a little bit more grittier and I'm surprise how much gain it has in store. These lil buggers are loud.

The combo is ok, speakers may need some time to break in. I thought it sounded a bit nasally and closed compared to an external 2x12 cab. However it doesn't sound bad, just different. Again maybe the speakers are still new.

I have yet to compare it to the YJM, maybe I'll find some time tomorrow. Meanwhile I could only stare at it, just too late and too loud to play at this time. :zzz

I just told Surf I think I may be passing on the JMP1 and now you post these wonderful pics. :drool Man thats a beautiful amp!
Give the speaker some time to break in. I also wonder on the speaker in these combos. If you was to change to a celestion Gold
how that would sound a 10 inch gold or maybe a blue? Not sure to me I would think its just a time of break in on the speaker.
Very nice pics thanks for posting. I would def get that combo if I was going to get one. What a sweet little amp.
